The Search

I spent years
looking for my purpose
as though it were hiding—
tucked behind the next job,
the next city,
the next version of myself
I hadn't tried yet.
I didn't find it.
It found me—
in the quiet
after I stopped running.
In the breath
I took
when I finally admitted
I didn't have to be
extraordinary
to matter.
